De plus, la force, la gravité et les mots de ce genre sont souvent, et non imprudemment, utilisés dans le concret ; de telle manière qu'ils connaissent le mouvement du corps, la difficulté de la résistance, etc. Mais quand ils sont utilisés par les philosophes pour signifier certaines natures, précises et abstraites de tout cela, qui ne sont ni soumises aux sens, ni intelligibles par aucune puissance de l'esprit, ni façonnées par l'imagination, ils donnent lieu à leur tour à des erreurs et à des confusions.
